Interlock® Tile is an aluminum, hidden-fastener roofing system designed to match the appearance of conventional tile. The tile panels are roll-formed from 0.028"-gauge aluminum, coated with the Alunar® Coating System, and use concealed fasteners that preserve an authentic tile look while allowing for panel expansion and contraction. All trims are color-matched to the selected Interlock color.
Interlock Tile has a dry or wet weight of about 70 lbs per 100 sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — the manual notes it weighs less than 4% of the weight of concrete and clay tile. This low weight delivers significant structural savings for new homes and developments because truss systems can be designed for less stress and weight load, and it allows the look of tile without costly structural modifications.
Minimum slope is 3:12 when installed with an Ice & Water underlayment, or 4:12 minimum with synthetic underlayment. The entire roof area must be covered with synthetic roofing underlayment before tile application, over sheathing not less than 1/2"; optionally it can be spaced over an existing roof using minimum 1" x 4" strapping spaced 15" on center. All components are secured with non-corrosive stainless steel or aluminum fasteners color-matched to the trims.
The manual lists ICC Evaluation Report 1790, Florida Report FL7263, Texas Department of Insurance hail-impact recognition, and UL 2218 Class IV (Class 4) impact resistance. These documents support code compliance for fire, wind and hail performance and are available as separate downloads in this library.
Interlock Tile carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty that is non-prorated and one-time transferable, with the Alunar® coating protecting the roof for a lifetime. Detailed terms and the transfer process are set out in the Guardian Warranty document.
The Tile Ridge Cap is manufactured in standard 48" lengths secured to a C-Channel and fits any ridge or hip angle, while the Tile Gable Cap comes in standard 49" lengths, also secured to C-Channel. Valley trim, starter flashing, sidewall and endwall trims, a plumbing-vent flashing and the C-Channel base round out the color-matched component set, most supplied in 10' lengths.

1 Tile Panel Detail Interlock® Tile Interlock Tile is an aluminum tile hidden fastener roofing system. It is specially designed to match the appearance of conventional tile roofing. The tile panels are coated with Alunar® for ultimate durability and protection. All trims are color matched to the specific Interlock color. Interlock Tile provides outstanding advantages when compared to other roofing materials. Durability Unique design provides incredible strength and protects against severe weather. Lightweight Interlock Tile is very lightweight, having a dry or wet weight of 70 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. This is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Huge savings are realized in structural costs for new homes and developments, as truss systems can be designed for less stress and weight loads. Underlayment The entire roof area is to be covered (prior to Tile application) with synthetic roofing underlayment. Sheathing Sheathing for the roof should not be less than 1/2”. Trusses For new developments, enormous cost savings can be realized as Interlock® Tile weighs less than 4% the weight of concrete clay and tile, and much less than other roofing systems.

3 Tile Components All Tile components are secured with non-corrosive stainless steel or aluminum fasteners. All component trims are coated with the Alunar® Coating System and are based on standard 10 foot lengths except ridge, hip, and gable capping. Screw fasteners are color matched to roof trims and components. Tile Ridge Cap Designed to complement any installation requirement, fitting any ridge or hip roof angle. Manufactured in standard 48” lengths secured to C-Channel. 4 Tile Components Starter Flashing Carefully manufactured to give a greater degree of strength to the starter strip. The protruding edge is an effective drip cap which further reduces the possibility of capillary seepage. Manufactured in 10’ lengths. 5 Tile Components Valley Trim Provides a smooth, obstruction-free path for precipitation - no projections to catch debris or snow. Panels are installed to form a solid weather-proof unit.
